What if I told you that I’ve been trying for YEARS to launch something on the side? Seriously—year after year, I’ve let my brain run wild with a million ideas for side work or a full career plot twist… and then took exactly zero action. I’m still holding onto the dream of my own coffee shop (one day!), but for now I finally sat down and asked myself: “What can I build on the side using the experience I already have?”
The answer smacked me right in the face: mentoring.
The thing I’ve been doing all along.
For over a decade, I’ve helped college students navigate something so many of us have to learn the hard way—including me—and that’s becoming a professional. Not just the technical stuff. I’m talking about how you speak, how you show up, how you handle yourself under pressure, how you grow, and how you make the most out of every work situation. Those are interpersonal skills. That’s the good stuff. And no, they don’t teach all of that in school. Maybe you’ll get a Public Speaking class if you’re lucky, but even that doesn’t cover what I’m talking about.
That’s where THE SOCIAL SOCIETY comes in. Think of it as a hangout, a home base, a place for young professionals to realize that being “a professional” is so much more than just knowing how to do the job. It’s about understanding yourself in the workplace. It’s about purpose. It’s about growth. Technical skills will get you in the door, but your interpersonal skills? Those are the ones that carry you through the room.
As I’m writing this, Thanksgiving 2025 was just yesterday. Today, I’m grateful for my first official blog post. And if you’re struggling with gratitude right now, ask yourself why. What’s keeping you from seeing how far you’ve come? Why are you letting the clouds block out the sunshine you’ve earned? I’m 46 years old, finally stepping into a passion project meant to help millions of young people like you get ready for their first—or second—job. If you’re reading this, that’s already something positive. And I’m here to hand you the wisdom I’ve collected the hard way.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing thoughts on interpersonal skills, quotes and messages from people I admire, and hopefully some people you admire too. I’m just one person trying to make a difference, and in doing so, I’m reminding myself that this was the side hustle I should’ve started long ago. That’s the beauty of an epiphany: it’s never too late to act on it.

I’m here to be a beacon of hope (fingers crossed) for anyone preparing to level up their professional game—college student or not. And here’s a little bonus truth: strengthening your interpersonal skills doesn’t just help your career… it can glow-up your personal life too.
I know I’m not the only one out here motivating young leaders, and I don’t need to be. But I do hope that one day, I’ll earn my spot among the very best. That will happen when the timing is right. Until then, I’m just grateful you’re here. I’m ready to help you grow, prepare, and bring a little joy to your professional and personal world.
